(Less Words) Wednesday - Mad Men

Sigh. I love this show. L-O-V-E. It is in my top 5 of favourite TV shows ever - possibly even at the top.

The fantastic writing, the characters, the clothes, hair and make-up. The attention to detail. The set design. Joan Holloway's va va voom curves. Don Draper. I can't get enough.

Courtesy of Netflix, I finally got my hands on Series 4, and as much as I want to sit down and watch every episode in one big marathon, I won't. I can't. It's like a box of the finest quality Belgian chocolates - you don't eat them all at once, because then you can't savour the amazing flavours and texture that each one has to offer. You need to let the aftertaste linger. Appreciate. So for now, it's one episode a night, one disc a week.

Mad Men knows how to leave a girl wanting more...

  1. I've got to see this show. Why haven't I seen it? I must do what you did and get the series out on DVD. I think that's the best way.

I admire your restraint, only watching one episode at a time. How on earth do you do it? Admittedly, having two kids running around springs to mind as a reasonable answer.

  2. Oh no no no no no. This show is wasted during the day with kids around. It would be tainted. It's strictly for once the kids are tucked up, dinner cooked, dim-the-lights-and-have-something-yummy-to-nibble-on viewing. A cocktail in hand goes even better.

And yes, you must see it. I have a feeling you'd get a kick out of it!

  3. It's so on the list for me. We're doing current season Dexter at the moment.

Have you heard that there have been problems with the next season of Mad Men? As in, money negotiations and whatnot? I think it's been resolved but it was looking like not getting made for a while there.

  4. Dexter Season 5? I am so jealous. I haven't had a Dexter fix since 2009, when we saw Season 4 in Australia. That's a long time between drinks. It's not available yet on Netflix - poo - and I think you're aware of J's refusal to illegally download stuff now that he works 'in the industry'... Men!

Do it! Get Mad Men! You'll dig it, I promise (and yep, I think I heard only the other day that Series 5 has been given the go ahead, but won't air until 'fall' 2012 - poo again).
